There are many islands in Japan. Enoshima island is one of the closest islands from Tokyo and is popular as a tourist spot.
You can go to Enoshima island from Enoshima station. Enoshima station (Katase Enoshima station) looks like a "Dragon palace". It takes about 1hour or more from Shinjyuku.
When you get off at Katase-Enoshima station, go across the small bridge. Then you find the big bridge,"Enoshima Benzai bridge".
Be careful on this bridge! Strong wind and sand blow you and sometimes it is difficult to keep walking.
Across the bridge, finally you get the spiritual island "Benzaiten Nakamise street". Along the street, there are many shops and restaurants so you can find the souvenirs here.
In Enoshima, you can enjoy seafood like Sasimi and Sushi but the most popular food is "Shirasu-Don". Shirasu is whitebait and Don means bowl. What you can eat only here is "FRESH" Shirasu-don. We can eat "Fresh Shirasu" only thd day which the shirasu is landed.
Please try!
The witer tried three kinds of Shirasu Don. What three? The middle Shirasu(Gray color) is fresh one, the right Shirasu(white color) is boiled Shirasu and the left Shirasu(brown color) is special tasted one.
After you upstairs, there is a Enoshima shrine and Hoanden which is god for money. The witer god the stamps of them.
Walk for the east part of this island, you can walk along the sea. If the weather is good, you can see Mt.Fuji. Today, the weather is not good, windy, cloudy so can not see Mt.Fuji unfortunatelly.
There are two caves here. The Iwaya cave has been eroded by waves over a long period of time. One is 152m long and another is 56m long. You can walk inside the caves.
Around the island, lots of surfers are playing. This is also a good surf spot.
