Very Nice One Day Trip to " Hakushu Distillery" If You Like Japanese Whisky!

Do You Like Whisky? How About Japanese Ones?

These days Japanese whisky is getting popular and it become difficult to get, especially old vintage ones.

But we can enjoy old whisky as well as new here at "Hakushu distillery" in Yamanashi Prefecture.

Suntory, which is large beverage company in Japan, have 2 distilleries, Hakushu in Yamanashi and Yamazaki in Osaka.

Hakushu is closer to Tokyo ( about 2hours from Tokyo) and Yamazaki is closer to Kyoto ( about 30 mins).

This time I visited Hakushu. It is surrounded by many beautiful mountains and the distillery is in a forest. I felt relax in nature; fresh air, lots of green, and nice scenery. If you have one day off, I really recommend to go for a day trip. You can see a different scenery from Tokyo. 

The most enjoyable thing is tasting!

In distillery, you can visit the production area, enjoy shopping(whiskey, glasses, some other staff, snacks), taste whisky as much as you want!

You need the reservation in advance to join the tour (cost ¥1,000 for viewing) but they have free distillery viewing as well.

They only serve whisky straight with the volume of 15ml per shot.

The newest whisky cost only ¥100. The most expensive one cost ¥2.900 and this is 響Hibiki 30 years but it is VERY hard to get it somewhere else so it is good experience I think.

Please try Japanese whisky and enjoy one day trip not in Tokyo but in beautiful nature.

Access: take JR limited express Azusa at Shinjyuku station and get off at

Kobuchizawa station ( ¥5,184 one way). you can get the free shuttle
